EWB York presents High School Outreach Presentations. These presentations serve to educate High School students on challenges facing the developing world and how simple technology can serve as an impetus to drive further change. Currently there are two presentations offered: Water for the World and Food for Thought.

Water for the World

Through an interactive workshop that includes building a mini water filter and brainstorming viable water usage solutions, the high school students learned about water issues in Canada and about how seemingly simple challenges, such as gaining access to safe water, are magnified in places like Cameroon.

Food for Thought

Around the world, 800 million people go hungry, while in Canada our food choices affect much – communities in Africa, our resources – and our own health. We focus on Rice – as 2004 was the “International Year of Rice” and have an interactive program the helps students understand where and how rice is grown, how it is processed, and the implications for this global system.

For information on presentations please contact our National School Outreach Directors Austin and Mary at and respectively.
