One of the purposes of this event is to actively engage the student body on the root causes of poverty and development work which is needed to eradicate extreme suffering caused by poverty.

Students and faculty members will help smash a four-door sedan to gain attention and to dramatize the defeat of poverty. The aim of Car Smash is also to raise funds in order to send one Junior Fellow overseas to gain a first-hand experience in sustainable development and return to YorkU with firsthand insight.

Come out and help smash the car!

EWB Day 2008!

Date: Mar 6, 2008

Time: 2:30 - 6:00

Location: Downtown Toronto

Description: Well Ladies and Gentlemen, that time of the year is quickly approaching. If you volunteer only once this year, let it be at EWB DAY.

March 6, 2008 is set to be the biggest EWB Day yet, and this is true especially for the York Chapter. This years focus.... Fair Trade. This years target.... ALL OF TORONTO.

EWB will be taking it to the subways once more to show Torontonians that they CAN make a difference. The following are the events that will transpire on EWB Day...

1) A #$%*ing Big Fair Trade Banner will be hung in Vari Hall. Volunteers are needed to help both paint and hang this behemoth.
2) Mid-afternoon will be a festive time at a downtown pub to meet and greet with our fellow Toronto Chapters.
3) Afternoon Rush Hour. Volunteers will hit the transit stations around Toronto and inform the commuters what Fair Trade is all about. We need lots of volunteers for this.

But wait, there is more. There is also a challenge. We must show UofT that we are superior! Always is York looked upon as the outsider. But I say NO MORE! We will show UofT what we are made of!

If you only volunteer once this year, make sure it is at EWB Day. If you are interested or have any questions, e-mail me at tyler78@yorku.ca. We need volunteers, we must challenge UofT's supremacy!

Leading the charge,

Tyler Ustrzycki
